The Washington Bar Examination consists of three parts: The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE), and the Multistate Performance Test (MPT).
The MEE consists of six 30-minute essays testing the following subjects: all MBE subjects (Constitutional Law, Contracts and Sales, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts), plus Business Associations (Agency, Corporations, and Partnerships), Conflicts of Law, Family Law, Federal Civil Procedure, Secured Transactions, Trusts and Future Interests, and Wills and Decedents’ Estates.
In order to be admitted to practice law in Washington, you must successfully pass the Washington Law Component. This online test is based on the Washington Law Component (WLC) Research Materials, which include 15 outlines on various subjects of law. The purpose of the WLC is to educate new lawyers in Washington about areas of law that are unique to Washington law or that are substantially different from the law tested on the Uniform Bar Exam. You will be able to access the test from your online admissions account after you submit your application and pay the application fee. There are 60 multiple-choice questions to be answered in no more than four hours. You will have access to the research materials while taking the test. You must answer 80% of the questions correctly to pass.
The MBE consists of 200 multiple-choice questions that test the following areas: Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts and Sales, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts.
The MPT is designed to assess the examinee’s ability to use fundamental lawyering skills in a realistic situation. Each examinee receives a “File” of source documents and a “Library” of cases, statutes, and rules. Each MPT question is designed to be answered within 90 minutes. It provides all necessary materials to answer the question and does not require the applicant to use any state-specific law.

My constant dialogue with the Themis staff helped me avoid feeling overwhelmed and optimized my study time. Without the personalized support, quick response time and such a flexible/adaptable program, I would've been in heaps of trouble. I still cannot fathom why anyone would pay double or triple for an inferior product. Thanks Themis!
